Questions, answered

Free and Pro

Is it really free?

The produce guide is. Every item opens with the verdict, how to pick it, the red flags, the varieties and storage — no account, no ads. You can also try the rest: five scans, five AI answers, and one persona deck for 24 hours from when you open it, without handing over a card. When those 24 hours end, any scans and answers you haven't used end with them. Pro opens every section and For you, and gives you scans and AI answers every day.

Is there a free trial?

No. The produce guide is free, and the free scans, AI answers and persona deck are there so you can try the rest first.

How do I cancel Pro?
  1. Tap the gear on the home screen.
  2. Tap Subscription, then Manage subscription.
  3. That opens your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. Cancel there.

Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for, and the free scans and answers don't come back after it ends. Deleting the app doesn't cancel it.

I paid, but Pro is still locked — or I got a new phone.
  1. Make sure this phone is signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you paid with.
  2. Tap the gear on the home screen.
  3. Tap Subscription, then Restore purchases.
Does Pro work on both iPhone and Android?

No. Pick Right has no accounts, so Pro stays with the store you bought it from. Bought on an iPhone, it restores on any iPhone signed in to the same Apple ID, but not on Android — and the other way round.

How do I get a refund?

Apple and Google sell Pro, so refunds go through them — we can't issue one ourselves.

Using the app

Can it suggest produce for me?

Yes, with Pro. Pick a persona — like the gym-goer or a parent feeding kids — and Pick Right builds a basket around it, refreshed with every month and season. You can try one persona free for 24 hours.

Can Scan be wrong?

Yes. Scan names the item in your photo and shows you its picking cues, so you can tell a ripe one yourself. It can name the wrong item in bad light, with several items in the frame, or with something we don't cover yet. If it does, tap a "Not this?" choice when one is offered, or scan again closer with a single item. Chat can be wrong too when it uses AI: those answers are marked "AI answer", and answers from our own guide are marked "Grounded in Pick Right's catalog".

Does Chat answer health questions?

It answers questions about produce — how to pick it, store it, when it's in season, how it tastes, what nutrients it has and how Ayurveda reads it. A question about a medicine, a health condition, a symptom, pregnancy, feeding a baby or putting food on your skin gets pointed to a doctor, pharmacist or other professional instead.

What's the Ayurveda section?

How each food has been read in Ayurveda for centuries — watermelon traditionally considered cooling, ginger warming. It's part of Pro, and it's shared descriptively, as tradition worth knowing — never as a treatment or health claim. For anything medical, see a doctor.

What languages does it speak?

English, Español, हिन्दी, and ಕನ್ನಡ — the full guide in each, not just the menus. One exception: Chat writes its answers in English, whatever language you're using.

Is it on iPhone and Android?

It's built for both. Neither store listing is live yet — we'll add the download links as each one goes live. After that, new items arrive through in-app updates, usually without a store update.

Privacy

Do I need an account?

No. Open the app and start. We don't ask for an email, a login, or a profile.

Does it track my location?

No. You pick your shopping zone yourself. There is an optional "Use my location" row that reads an approximate location — on that tap, and again each time you open the app once you've allowed it — to keep your zone matched to where you shop. Never in the background, never stored, never shared; turning location off for Pick Right in your phone's settings stops it entirely. Skip the row and location is never requested at all.

What happens to my camera scans?

Your photo goes through our server to Google's Gemini AI to name the item, and we don't keep the photo. Your phone keeps your last 30 scans so you can look back at them, and you can clear them any time in Recent scans → Clear. Full details are in our privacy policy.
